Finding My Light

As I build this website, the massive project I am currently in the middle of is “Finding My Light”. You can get involved by clicking here! While I’ve recorded a couple collections of instrumental music in the past, this project represents my “debut album.” Originally, I conceived of this project as a live show, and someday I hope to turn it into one. However, as I considered the amount of funding I would need to generate to make that show a reality, I realized I would need a “proof of concept” of sorts, so I decided to go about recording a Concept Album for the show.

At first, I was going to outsource the songwriting, but then music began to come to me—the first music I’d written since deconstructing my intensely religious upbringing. I was going to outsource the singing, but I realized this project is far too personal and intimate for me to NOT speak it into existence in my own voice.

And so I set about creating an album that I originally intended to generate entirely from my own home studio. But then, I enlisted the help of a couple friends, and they agreed to talk to their friends, and now I have an absolutely INCREDIBLE team of artists all coming together to make this project a reality. I am still somewhat in disbelief of what this project has turned into…

I am assembling a choir to record a few simple numbers (mostly in unison) at First Unitarian Church of LA on Sunday, November 22 from 2:30-5:30 PM.
